Vacation is over and it’s time to get back to racing. 😀
This season we’re going to try something new. Instead of qualifying, we’re going to do an inversion based on the previous week’s finish. The first race in each division will start with a random grid. After that, we will probably invert the top 6, 8, or 10 cars from last week’s race. The number of cars inverted will be based on typical participation.
I know a lot of people are wondering what we’re going to do with dirt racing. It’s still wait-and-see as far as I’m concerned. As we have all heard by now, iRacing will probably have some content out by March 29, possibly sooner. Key word: probably. We also don’t know what content we will have right off the bat. The loose plan is to see what we get, do some hosted practices with it, and maybe some hosted races for league members only. After we see how the cars and tracks work and everybody starts to get a feel for them, we will start doing some league racing.
I still plan to use the Hosted Tournament apparatus provided by iRacing. There are alternatives that require more work on my part, and will take more time since the heat races would have to be run consecutively instead of concurrently. There are advantages to both methods. A couple of members have expressed concern about the extra time consumed by running heats consecutively.
