iRacing Testing USAC Midgets and Irwindale Speedway Dirt?

November 3, 2017 by Jeff Kendrick 2 Comments

USAC Midgets on iRacing?

There have been a lot of rumors floating around about a couple of things that may be in development at iRacing. Earlier (November 3) I reported the rumor about USAC Midgets in alpha testing at iRacing. Another source reports that the car scanned appears to be a Keith Kunz Bullet.

This serves as a no-nonsense entry into realistic driving. Dual-motor force feedback delivers honest steering weight and road detail, while the sturdy floor pedals offer progressive braking and smooth throttle. Stainless steel paddle shifters, a leather-wrapped rim, and a full 900-degree rotation create a setup that earns its spot on your rig without needless extras. It works cleanly with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Irwindale Dirt on iRacing?

Now I’m hearing that a dirt surface has been added to Irwindale Speedway. This could be really good since Irwindale has a total of four track in one. At Irwindale you have:

  • The outer one half mile track.
  • The outer/inner combo which I think is four tenths mile.
  • The inner track only which is three eighths mile – another true dirt short track to love.
  • The Figure 8 track which is built for fun and carnage.

If these pictures are real, then we can look forward to the new track(s) and USAC Midgets.

Update 11/5/17: Now it appears that there is also a dirt version of Oxford Plains Speedway somewhere in the works. Will it get released? That remains to be seen.

Inner track at Irwindale is 1/3 mile (I’m the announcer)

Dirt would be phenomenal. We’ve always wanted to try that. Plus it would open up the inside line (like in real life…one thing iRacing really missed the ball with. The real track runs 3-4 wide all the time, especially early on. On the sim, you’re stuck up top).

I’m not sure if that’s a test track or what’s going on. Is the future for Irwindale as bleak as it appears to be?
