iRacing continues to work on animated pit crews. Maybe I’m too cynical, but the first thing that comes to mind is: Fix all the broken stuff before you start working on unnecessary cosmetics. Animated pit crews might look cool, but do they really accomplish anything? No, they don’t. Nevertheless, an iRacing animated pit crew video is in the works and may be available at some point during the next week.

iRacing first started working with pit crew animation in the NASCAR Monster Energy Series, of course. The theory is that they can add animated pit crews to other iRacing NASCAR Series with a few minor adjustments, and continue to roll the feature out to other series and forms of racing. This is a fairly large project for iRacing with the initial programming of the system, the animator tools, characters, replays, designs, etc. After that, the kinks have to be sorted and there must be dozens of variables and different scenarios. The pit crews will only be on the player’s car for the time being, so you won’t be able to see pit crews on other players’ cars.
iRacing expects to release animated pit crews for the NASCAR Monster Energy Series in the 2018 Season 1 build in early December.
