Tyler Courtney’s Race-Winning Move at Haubstadt Provokes Buddy Kofoid’s Unsparing Rebuke in World of Outlaws Action.
In the hardscrabble realm of sprint car racing, where fortunes turn as quickly as a loose wheel in lapped traffic, Buddy Kofoid made it abundantly clear that he held no affection whatsoever for Tyler Courtney’s race-winning maneuver on Sunday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana.

The two drivers found themselves locked in a fierce duel for the lead amid the chaos of slower cars. On what should have been the final lap, they tangled entering turn three. Courtney, admittedly intent on reclaiming the preferred bottom groove after clearing a lapped machine, swung sharply from the outside lane to the inside. That decisive dart proved costly. His left-rear tire caught Kofoid’s right-front just as the latter’s car planted all four wheels again following a wheelie induced by an infield tractor tire exiting turn two.
Courtney motored on to victory. Kofoid, who had reeled off three consecutive World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series triumphs heading into the night, instead found himself spinning helplessly along the backstretch.
