iRacing has released the schedule for 2015 Season 3 with the caveat that it could change. For some reason they refuse to commit to anything until June 16, the day Season 3 starts. It would be nice to know where we’ll be racing a little ahead of time, but we have no choice in the matter so we’ll work with what we’re given.
The short track Rookie Series are up to the usual stuff so there’s nothing new to report there. Street Stocks alternate the same two tracks, Legends get a road course during the second half of the season. I’ve been watching the Legends road course activity a little bit recently. Dear iRacing: Nobody cares.
On to more interesting things, the Late Model Series is up to the usual stuff with one new track added — Five Flags Speedway. 🙂 Other than that, it’s a very similar schedule to what we’ve seen in past seasons.
- New Smyrna Speedway
- USA International Speedway
- Irwindale Speedway – Outer
- South Boston Speedway
- Iowa Speedway (booooo)
- Lanier National Speedway
- Five Flags Speedway
- Oxford Plains Speedway
- Stafford Motor Speedway
- Thompson Speedway
- Langley Speedway
- Martinsville Speedway
So once again the Late Model Series has a very good schedule with the exception of Week 5.
Moving along to the SK Modified Series, these lucky guys get to visit Five Flags Speedway in Week 2. They also have an even better schedule that the Late Model boys.
- Lucas Oil Raceway
- Five Flags Speedway
- Lanier National Speedway
- South Boston Speedway
- Bristol Motor Speedway
- Oxford Plains Speedway
- USA International Speedway
- Thompson Speedway
- Stafford Motor Speedway
- Irwindale Speedway – Outer
- Langley Speedway
- New Smyrna Speedway
Moving on up the Class C short track series, we come first to the Street Stocks. This is a pathetic series since it was switched to fixed setups, but I’ll give the run-down anyway.
In addition to being pathetic for having fixed setups, iRacing added Charlotte to the Class C schedule. Great. You might as well just change the name of this series to Rookie Street Stock II. Even some veteran drivers act like idiots in this series. It’s a total waste of time and bandwidth.
- Oxford Plains Speedway
- Concord Speedway
- Five Flags Speedway
- New Smyrna Speedway
- Langley Speedway
- USA International Speedway
- Lanier National Speedway
- South Boston Speedway
- Thompson Speedway
- Lucas Oil Raceway
- Stafford Motor Speedway
- Charlotte Motor Speedway
It’s a pretty good schedule with the exception of the snoozer in Week 12. Too bad nobody with half a brain will bother with this series.
Next we move to a series with even lower participation, the Super Late Model Series. However, Week 1 might be interesting since the series will be the first to visit Five Flags Speedway.
- Five Flags Speedway
- Bristol Motor Speedway
- Lanier National Speedway
- USA International Speedway
- Stafford Motor Speedway
- Richmond International Speedway
- Martinsville Speedway
- South Boston Speedway
- Irwindale Speedway – Outer
- The Milwaukee Mile (yawn)
- Langley Speedway
- New Smyrna Speedway
Not a good schedule for the Super Late Models. It starts off with the new track and it’s pretty much down hill from there. Get rid of Richmond and Milwaukee and you might have something.
Now to the next series with little to no participation: Tour Modified. I’m surprised this series has as much participation as it does with all the rough driving and cheating that goes on in the form of blocking. One major team that races this series makes blocking (cheating) their number one objective. Anyway, here’s the schedule for the Tour Modified Series, and they get what they deserve. The schedule is lousy. I’m glad I won’t be racing these cars.
- USA International Speedway
- Gateway Motorsports Park
- Martinsville Speedway
- New Smyrna Speedway
- New Hampshire Motor Speedway
- Lucas Oil Raceway
- Stafford Motor Speedway
- Five Flags Speedway
- Phoenix International Raceway
- South Boston Speedway
- Iowa Speedway
- Richmond International Raceway
So that’s the run-down for the iRacing oval short track series for Season 3. Good luck to all.
