OSR brings you the King of the Browser, but what if you don’t have two other people to race with, or don’t want to run 20 laps with sim damage on? The OSR Dirt Track Racing 2 Quick X is for you!
Old School Racing Motorsports is proud to bring you the Dirt Track Racing 2 Quick X Competition. The Quick X is made up of the ten drivers who turn the fastest ten lap total race times. At the end of each month, a champion will be declared at each track, the times will reset, and the competition will begin anew.
The Quick X will be run on default tracks with Gen5 and default late model chassis.
The Old School Racing King of the Browser competition has returned to Dirt Track Racing 2.
Browser racing usually consists of quick sprints just for fun, but with the Old School Racing King of the Browser competition, you can earn points and be declared the champion–The King of the Browser! It’s easy to compete in the King of the Browser competition. Here are the rules and guidelines:
Official King of the Browser races must take place on the OSR KotB server.
KotB races must start with a minimum of three participants.
Official races can take place using any racing chassis on any track.
KotB races must be at least twentyten laps in length.
Simulation damage must be on for the race to be official.
When the race meets these criteria, the points are extracted from the race results file. The number of points awarded to each racer is based on the number of cars that start the race. More cars equates to more points. If the race starts with a ten-car field, the winner gets ten points, second place gets nine points, etc. For each official KotB race, every driver who finishes the race earns points.
Points are updated every fifteen minutes. You can find the current point standings here.
The King of the Browser is crowned at the end of each month. Who will be the best? Who will win the next KotB Cup?
Today I was reading some old forum posts and I came across a post from the founder of Extreme Velocity Racing, Shadow32. What you are about to read below is why Shadow and EVR were so very well respected in the Dirt Track Racing community. Here are Shadow’s words:
“aye”
It’s definitely time to correct our driving behavior before the league admins are forced to throw the switch on the damage option.
Like the MARS officials explained last night. If you get into someone let them regroup at least. If you drive through someone you are going to be penalized.
What’s sad is that such a rule even has to be enforced. With damage on this would never be an issue. You wreck yourself and your fellow competitor with some bone-headed moves enough… you won’t be racing in leagues anymore period.
Yeah lag is worse in DTR2… I think perhaps mostly because the speeds are higher therefore when a car does lag out you are on top of them quicker. At least in DTRSC and DTR1 a person had time to react if someone started lagging near you. That still doesn’t excuse driving through someone to get to the front. If you have to drive that way you really aren’t winning anything but trophies. Respect is earned in how you drive others, not in how many checkers you get.
There really is no feeling like runnin with a bunch of racers you know and trust, door-handle to door-handle and occasionally getting that win. Those wins are tons sweeter than the ones where you must drive over and through people.
Last evening we ran the multi-grooved Grandview. I was on the low side and Domn8r was on the high side. We ran 15-16 laps that way – each lap one or the other might be leading. We didn’t take each other out! That was one of the best races I’ve had in a long time and guess what? I finished 4th! Know something else? I know that I can trust what Domn8r is going to do the next time we race each other.
There is plenty to think about for sure. It’s up to the professionals to start the trend and buck this current habit of rough driving! Everyone makes mistakes. The person who can admit it is the one I want to race beside the next chance I get.
Enough rambling I suppose… please insert your thoughts here.
