I’ve embarked on a quest to achieve a dirt iRating of 2k, and I’m documenting my progress on Youtube. Here is race #1 that I ran, competing in the iRacing Rookie Dirt Street Stock Series.

iRacing 2022 Season 4 Release Notes Highlights for Oval Racers
The only thing I see of interest to oval racers in this update is the introduction of Lucas Oil Speedway, and if you don’t race on dirt ovals, even this news won’t be of interest to you.
Lucas Oil Speedway is a three-eighths mile clay oval located in Wheatland, Missouri. The track was built on farmland and first opened in 2001 as Wheatland Raceway. Lucas Oil purchased the track in 2004, renovating the entire facility, making it one of the premier motorsports facilities in the country.
Lucas Oil Speedway, also known as The Diamond of Dirt Tracks, currently hosts a weekly racing program as well as national events throughout the season. Some of the top names in dirt racing have taken the checkered flag at Wheatland.
The OSR League Concludes Its First Season of Dirt
The Old School Racing Motorsports League put the wraps on its first season of dirt this evening with our iRacing Dirt Super Late Model race. I can’t speak for other league members, but I know I have learned quite a lot over the last two months about iRacing’s take on dirt oval racing. Overall, it’s been a very interesting season. I like a challenge and dirt racing has certainly been that.
We did also run partial seasons in our asphalt Street Stock, Modified, and Late Model Stock Car leagues. I wish there was enough time to continue with one of the asphalt leagues, but there simply isn’t with all of the dirt series that we are running.
At this time I’d like to congratulate all of the OSR Champions of 2017 Season 2, our final season of asphalt racing and our first season of dirt racing.
We only ran four races in the OSR Asphalt Street Stock League. The top 5 in points were:
- Jeff Kendrick
- Dan Collinsworth
- Jared Beasley
- Ron Collinsworth
- Chip Dickert
The OSR Late Model Stock Car League was probably my favorite because the Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS is a fun car to drive. We ran eight races in the league this season and the competition was good. Congratulations to AJ Rogers on his championship.
- AJ Rogers
- Jeff Kendrick
- Ron Collinsworth
- Dan Collinsworth
- Bryan Hacker
The SK Modified is also a favorite of mine. We ran eight races in the OSR Modified League.
- Jeff Kendrick
- Ron Collinsworth
- Jon Waters
- Donny Moore
- Chris Roberts4
We had some very good regulars in the OSR Asphalt Leagues. I would love to see some of those guys find time to run on dirt with us.
We made a lot of new friends in the OSR Dirt Leagues. There was an influx of drivers from rFactor and Dirt Track Racing 2, and some iRacing old timers that we just had not encountered until we raced against one another on dirt.
The OSR 360 Sprint Car League is by far our most popular one. We normally have about 20 cars or more each week. Congratulations to Bruce Jones2 for his championship. Bruce won three heat races and two mains on his way to the championship. Here are the top five:
- Bruce Jones2
- Ray Farlow
- Cody Olsen
- Sonnie G. Tucker
- Kent Stephens
The OSR 410 Sprint Car League is also very popular. Ray Farlow was the man to beat in the 410s. Ray won one heat race and one main on his way to the championship.
- Ray Farlow
- Bruce Jones2
- Cody Olsen
- Sonnie G. Tucker
- Christopher Gracia
After wrapping up our asphalt leagues, we added a Limited Late Model League which gave us a series for each iRacing Dirt Late Model. Dan Collinsworth won the OSR Limited Late Model Championship.
- Dan Collinsworth
- Ron Collinsworth
- Jeff Kendrick
- Zachery Dresslaer
- Zak Rounds
The OSR Pro Late Model Championship was won by Zachery Dresslaer despite the best efforts of Zak Rounds. Dresslaer won 4 heats and 2 mains for the season.
- Zachery Dresslaer
- Zak Rounds
- Dan Collinsworth
- Jeff Vance
- Jeff Kendrick
The Super Late Model Series is really our headliner and the last race of each week. Zak Rounds dominated the Super Late Model Division.
- Zak Rounds
- Dustin Beck
- Dakota Barse
- Dan Collinsworth
- Zachery Dresslaer
We also came back to the Dirt Street Stock after abandoning it early in the season due to time constraints. Dan Collinsworth picked up his second championship in the OSR Leagues.
- Dan Collinsworth
- Jeff Vance
- Lyle Dietrich2
- Brock Hopkins
- Ron Collinsworth
Next season we will continue to run the same series as 2017 Season 2, but our Wednesday night program will be moved to Saturday nights as I hope to bring more racers to the OSR Street Stock and Limited Late Model Leagues. There will also be format changes in a couple of the series. I will have the schedule including the format changes updated as soon as iRacing releases their dirt schedule for 2017 Season 3. The OSR Leagues will return to racing action beginning with the Friday Night Sprint Cars on June 9, 2017.
OSR League Update for May 9, 2017
League News
I learned in the asphalt leagues that you only need about 12 to 18 cars to have a good league race. Last week we tried with 24 cars and I think I was right the first time. I had originally limited the a-main to 18 or 20 cars. This week we’ll go back to the 20 car limit. If we have more than 25 cars entered, the remaining cars will transfer to the b-main. If you enter the event and you don’t make the A, please go to the B and help fill out the field. The race format is now at the top of the league schedule page.
Speaking of asphalt leagues, there are no more left under the OSR umbrella. Participation sunk to new lows last week, so we will try some different cars on dirt. I enjoyed short track asphalt racing, but I think dirt racing is more interesting, more challenging, and has a lot more to offer. If you love racing on dirt, feel free to join the OSR Street Stock and Limited Late Model leagues that run on Wednesday nights starting this week.
Voice Activity has been disabled in the league’s Discord server. You can set up push to talk in Discord settings under Voice. More information on Discord is available here.
Congratulations to Last Week’s Feature Winners
- Late Models – Bryan Hacker
- 360 Sprint Cars – Bruce Jones2
- 410 Sprint Cars – Brock Hopkins
- Pro Late Models – Dan Collinsworth
- Super Late Models – Zak Rounds
The racing was very good in every class. For those who ran one of the Sprint races and also the Pro Late Model race, think about 10 cars versus 24 cars.
Coming Up
Wednesday we kick off the OSR Dirt Street Stocks with a 25 lap night race at Volusia Speedway. That starts at 7:30.
The OSR Limited Late Models also make their debut at Volusia Speedway. We’ll run 35 laps in a late afternoon setting. That session gets started at 9:00.
Coming up Friday night, get ready for another big race in the 360 Sprint Cars at Volusia Speedway. This will be a 35 lap afternoon race. This has grown to be the most fun series in the OSR line-up so far with close, clean racing each and every week. The 360 session starts at 7:30 pm. The broadcast that was scheduled for this race has been canceled by the broadcaster.
After the 360s, the 410 Sprint Cars pound the clay at Volusia Speedway in the afternoon. These cars are a handful at Volusia, so practice would be a good idea. The session starts at 9:00 pm.
Moving on to Sunday night, we’re running the Pro Late Models at 7:30 and the Super Late Models at 9:00 pm. Volusia speedway is the venue. These are both night races.
All times are US eastern.
Here are the setups for each race.
- Street Stock – iRacing default with 5 gallons of fuel
- Limited Late Model – [wpfilebase tag=file id=2304 tpl=filebrowser /]

OSR League Update for April 4, 2017
Latest News
Dirt continues to be the word of the day on iRacing. There are many veteran iRacers giving dirt a try right alongside some new blood. I haven’t tried any official races but I have heard good things for the most part. There is usually something ugly in most races, but the dirt races seem to be surprisingly clean. It’s refreshing to see some of the enthusiasm that is surrounding dirt on iRacing.
In OSR league news, we found ourselves a little bit short on cars this week in the Street Stock and Late Model series. I think this is due in part to the new dirt release. I had planned to be very involved with dirt racing since the announcement last year. Now dirt racing is here, so I decided to let go of the Pro Street Stock series after Sunday’s low car count. Street Stocks were the first series we ran in the league when it started four years ago, and we have continued to run them every season since. Something on the asphalt side had to go, and the Street Stock series was the first to be discontinued.
In the Modified and Late Model series we will run this Friday and Sunday as usual then take a week off. Both series will return on Wednesday, April 19 when they will run at The Bullring. You can see the full schedule here. You can also see the dirt schedules on that page.
The dirt leagues are going to be running on Fridays and Sundays later this month. Some of the dirt series may end up on a different night by next season, but they will all be on either Friday or Sunday. By next season, the two most popular series will be on Sundays and the other two will be running on Fridays.
