OSR @ Five Flags Speedway

OSR at Five Flags Speedway
The Old School Racing Motorsports League will once again offer something new and unique to the iRacing community next season. The league will race in four different divisions at a single track for the entire racing season (3 months). The track for the fall season will be the venerable Five Flags Speedway located in Pensacola, Florida.

The four divisions on the racing docket are:

  • Legends Cars – 20 laps
  • Street Stocks – 30 laps
  • Late Model Sportsmen – 40 laps
  • Super Late Models – 50 laps

There will be no qualifying sessions. The grid will be formed by inverting the finish from the previous week. The first week’s races will grid by iRating.

All races will be held on Sunday nights beginning at 8:00 pm eastern time. There will be brief breaks between races so nobody feels rushed. The OSR Fall Season will begin on Sunday, October 4.

We will be testing the format throughout the month of September in open hosted and league only hosted races. These races will be announced through the iRacing League communication system by email and private message. To receive the announcements visit our iRacing League page at http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/LeagueView.do?league=597 and click the ‘Apply to this League’ button.

We will continue to run open setups in all divisions. As most of you probably know, Old School Racing provides fresh iRacing setups for all of these cars on our website at https://osracing.net.

If you’d like to join a friendly league that features clean, competitive racing, visit our iRacing League page at http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/LeagueView.do?league=597 and click the ‘Apply to this League’ button.

iRacing Updates for 2015 Season 3

iRacing has released it’s list of changes for 2015 Season 3. Here are the highlights.

Website

  • Opting out of league emails and private messages now works. [so iRacing says :)]
  • There will now be a button to launch the graphics configuration utility on the settings panel.
  • Popular Races and Practices (what’s hot) will now have a filter to show only sessions using the content that you own. [hooray]
  • Registering for a race session will automatically place you in an open practice session while you wait. For some series, if you register for the race more than a couple of minutes prior to the session, you’ll go right into practice. When your race is ready, you’ll be notified and a green ‘Race!’ button will appear on the screen. If you don’t click the Race! button, you’ll be switched over to the race session automatically.

Simulation

  • Race Points/Field Size – Improvements are made in the way race points are calculated so that small field sizes won’t get too many championship points. It also reduces the advantage of high iRating fields.
  • New Tire Model – The new model of the tire carcass does a more accurate computation of the tire’s stiffness. Tires now respond much more accurately to tire pressure changes. This is version 6 of the tire model. This will only be implemented on some cars in this build.
  • Weather Reduced extreme wind direction swings.

Cars

  • Late Model Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS – The setups for the Late Model have been updated, and the visible positioning of the wheels has been cleaned up.
  • Legends Ford ’34 Coupe – Updated 3D model, updated chassis torsion and suspension installation stiffness, now has new version 6 tires, minimum cold pressure reduced to 10 psi, updated setups.
  • Super Late Model, SK and Tour Modified – updated setups
  • Street Stock – Fixed the rear spring bug and updated setups.
