OSR League Update for March 14, 2017

Latest News

Just a quick update — I added one new rule to the League Rules page:

A visible car number is required for each participant.

Please keep your car numbers visible to avoid confusion.

Chris Roberts led every lap and was untouchable in Friday night’s OSR Modified race at USA International Speedway.

The Street Stock drivers ran 51 laps at Concord Speedway without a single caution. Ron Collinsworth had the race in hand, but somehow I snuck by on a pit stop. A few cars chose not to stop for tires. That put Nick Schaeffer in the lead. Nick led for 21 laps then I managed to get under him on a last lap effort to win the race.

AJ Rogers and Ron Collinsworth swapped the lead a few times in the early laps of the Late Model race at South Boston Speedway. As a result of the caution that fell on lap 24, I somehow took the lead. I went on to lead most of the race, but Royce Scrivano had wisely changed tires during one of the cautions. Royce ran me down and I knew I was done for. Besides, I was blinking a little so I moved up to let Royce go on by. When I moved up the car felt better so I just stayed up there and I saw Royce start to fade back a little, then I think he moved up to the high line too.

The caution came out again on lap 81, and I could not avoid some wrecked cars on the front stretch going into turn one, so that ended my race. Royce Scrivano went on to win in a car that looked a little bit beat up, but most of them did after that race.

All in all, it was the most fun I’ve had on iRacing in a long time. The car counts were great and the racing action was non-stop. I look forward to next week. 🙂

Coming Up

The OSR Modifieds head north for a late afternoon race at what could accurately be called their home track, Stafford Motor Speedway. This setup will be used: [wpfilebase tag=file id=2064 tpl=filebrowser /]. Modifieds run Friday night at 9:00 pm eastern.

Sunday night at 7:30 eastern, the Pro Street Stocks visit New Smyrna Speedway for a night race. Here’s the  setup: [wpfilebase tag=file id=2065 tpl=filebrowser /].

For our feature race of the weekend, the Late Model Stock Cars head for the hills of Bristol, Tennessee to compete on the high banks in a night race. That session gets under way Sunday night at 9:00 pm. We will use this setup: [wpfilebase tag=file id=2066 tpl=filebrowser /]. Practicing for this race is a great idea. You really have to take it easy on the tires at Bristol.

OSR League Update for January 31, 2017

Latest News

I have created a league for dirt racing which appears to be right around the corner. Join here if you’re interested. We will see what iRacing releases first and continue from there. I’m hoping we can start testing, practicing, and hosting races in Street Stock and/or other cars soon, then move on to serious league racing in the near future. Each separate class/car will have its own league under the OSR name.

I expect the league to eventually become a dirt league, but I would like to continue running some asphalt if time permits.

Coming Up

This Friday night, the Modifieds will race at Concord Speedway in the late afternoon. Practice begins at 9:00 pm eastern time with qualifying at 9:30 and racing at 9:35. We will be using this setup: [wpfilebase tag=file id=2035 tpl=filebrowser /].

Sunday night, the Pro Street Stocks visit the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway for a race under the lights. The setup for this race is not a baseline setup. Instead, I made a small camber adjustment on a setup I built earlier this season and selected it for the league race. After thoroughly testing both setups, I found that the one selected is faster and stays faster longer than the baseline I made for Bristol. Bristol is a tricky place so it would be good to try to get some practice on this setup: [wpfilebase tag=file id=2032 tpl=filebrowser /].

For our feature race of the weekend, the Late Model Stock Cars head to USA International Speedway Sunday night at 9:00 pm eastern for a long 75 lap night race. USA is pretty amazing at night so this will be fun. We will use this setup: [wpfilebase tag=file id=2034 tpl=filebrowser /]. It says baseline, but this setup runs like a flaming pig. It’s not too much different from the other setup I built for USA this season which you can get on the iRacing Late Model Setups page.
