OSR League Update for July 24, 2017

League News

This past weekend was an interesting experiment in open hosted league racing. It got a little rough at times but all in all it was fun. The Dirt Street Stocks in particular were a lot of fun.

This week all of the dirt series will return to private racing. The Dirt Street Stock and Pro Late Model leagues will run under league sessions, so keep that in mind. For the Street Stocks and Late Models, we will have a 30 minute practice session followed by a 30 minute race session. The grid will be set based on last week’s finishes with the top four inverted for this week. Each week, we will invert approximately half of the field from the previous week’s finish up to a maximum of ten cars.

For the asphalt series, we have two special races coming up this Friday night in the Myrtle Beach Speedway Summer Special. These races will both run in open hosted sessions under Tournaments. If we have enough cars we will have heat races and mains. First up will be the Modifieds for a 50-lapper, then the Late Model Stock Cars will also run 50 laps. The Late Model race will run 30 minutes late, starting at 10:00 pm eastern. These races will feature open setups. If you don’t have a setup you can get mine on the iRacing Setups pages here on the site, or scroll to the bottom of this page.

I would really appreciate a few league members joining Discord for these races. If you’re racing you can help me keep an eye out for disrespectful drivers. If you’re not racing but bored, maybe you could join us in Discord, spectate and help us out.

League News

  1. There is no ‘EOL rule.’ iRacing will put the lapped cars in line when the field is frozen on the caution. If a lapped car is between the pace car and the leader (dirt or asphalt), please request a wave around. That is the only way to get a wave around on dirt. Any asphalt races will also use the automated iRacing Lucky Dog system.
  2. The participation rules have been relaxed a bit.
  3. Beginning this week, I’m moving the Limited Late Model Series back to Wednesday nights at 7:30 eastern. I hope we begin to see more participation in the series.
  4. Also beginning this week on Wednesday nights, I’m resurrecting the OSR Late Model Stock Car Series for asphalt. The Asphalt Late Models will run at 9:00 pm eastern using the same format that we use for dirt unless we run into issues with time. Most of the mains will be about 50 laps. Fixed setups. If you were a member of the Dirt Super Late Model League you are already in the Asphalt Late Model League. If you weren’t and you are interested in running on asphalt, apply on the league page.

If you’re not running in the OSR Street Stock League, you don’t know what you’re missing.

OSR League Update for June 26, 2017

League News

We will begin testing a new rule this weekend, as follows: When a yellow flag comes out, the first car that is one or more laps down will be waved around the pace car. If that car is not in the pace line, no wave around will be given. All other cars that are one or more laps down will be given an EOL. Over aggressive driving by those who are one or more laps down will be penalized. The penalty may be assessed the following week after replay review. We will test to see how well it works.

The OSR Super Late Model Series is on hold until iRacing fixes the car. That means we will not be racing the Supers for the rest of the season, at least. The OSR Limited Late Model Series may be discontinued in the coming weeks. We will run at least one more race in the LLM series this Saturday night. Here’s the schedule for this weekend:

  • Friday Night – 360s and 410s (no changes)
  • Saturday Night – Limited Late Models at 9:00 pm eastern
  • Sunday Night – Street Stocks at 7:30, Pro Late Models at 9:00 pm eastern

Any driver from the Super Late Model Series is welcome to join the Pro Late Models or any other OSR League. Either apply for the league you want to join or find me in Discord and I’ll send you an invitation.
