Ready to Wreck? Week 13 Returns

iRacing Week 13 WreckIt’s Week 13 once again in the iRacing world. Who said 13 was an unlucky number? I don’t know about luck, but Week 13 can be pretty rough unless you can qualify well and run up front in every race. Even then it can sometimes bite you in the form of lapped cars.

Some will try to advance during Week 13. I wish them luck.

As usual, there will be Street Stock racing during Week 13. The Street Stocks will compete in 30 lap races at the Charlotte Legends Oval, Lanier National Speedway, Oxford Plains Speedway, South Boston Speedway, and Thompson International Speedway. Those are very short races, especially on the three tiny tracks on the schedule. If you have trouble early in the race you’re just SOL. Ratings are in effect for the Week 13 Street Stocks.

That’s the only thing iRacing has to offer for short oval racers during Week 13. If you’re looking for something to do, Old School Racing Motorsports will be hosting some races throughout the week.

iRacing Releases Week 13 Schedule

It’s Week 13 time again in the iRacing world. Week 13 gives iRacers from Rookie to Class B a final opportunity to advance to the next license level for next season. In my experience, and from what I’ve read, it’s more often a good time to lose iRating and safety rating.

For this Week 13, iRacing brought in iRacer and NHRA racer Ron Capps to select a couple of the official series. To mark the debut of the iRacing.com Celebrity Challenge, Ron came up with the following:

  • Silver Crown cars at Dover International Speedway
  • Cadillac CTS-V cars at Brands Hatch

There’s nothing here for us short track stock car guys, but the winner of each series will receive a Ron Capps die-cast model. Pro and WDC driver aren’t eligible for this series.

If you don’t care for that, the Legends are always there with somebody racing them. The Legends tour consists of these stops:

  • Okayama Long and Short
  • Charlotte Road Course
  • Laguna Seca
  • Lime Rock
  • Okayama Long and Short again
  • Summit Point

Nothing there for a short track stock car guy either.

And if you like good racing, good tracks, and good cars, there are the Street Stocks. They’ll be visiting:

  • Charlotte Legends Oval
  • Charlotte Oval
  • Lanier
  • Oxford Plains
  • Thompson
  • South Boston
  • USA International Speedway

All of these are official series and safety ratings and iRatings are in effect, so be careful. Be very, very careful.

If you’d prefer unofficial series, then you have these to choose from:

  • Carburetor Cup at Talladega Super Speedway
  • Lotus 49 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport)
  • Several versions of the 24 Hours of Fun including the Radical SR8 (does the SR stand for safety rating?) at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the Dallara IndyCar at Charlotte, Interlagos, Laguna Seca and Rockingham.
  • Mazda MX-5 Cup, Pontiac Solstice, and VW Jetta TDi.

Lastly, it’s week 18 of the NASCAR iRacing series. The Gen6 cars will compete at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Friday through Sunday.
