iRacing World Championship Dirt and GRC Series are Just Around the Corner

January 31, 2018 by Jeff Kendrick Leave a Comment

Tony Gardner announced today that there will be three new iRacing World Championship Series: GRC, WoO Sprint Cars, and WoO Late Models. Here’s the post:

Hello folks,

I wanted to give a heads up about two, actually, make that three new World Championship Level eSport Series. We have been working with our wonderful partners to coordinate these three new series.

It will be a little rushed in the first year, but I’m excited to announce these new series. Red Bull GRC World Championship Series, World of Outlaws Late Model World Championship Series and World of Outlaws Sprint Car World Championship Series. These are not the official names; there could be sponsors, the names might be different, etc.

Currently, we are targeting GRC for Thursday nights and World of Outlaws on Monday nights, but that could change. GRC and World of Outlaws are very excited about the series and the promotion which is fabulous. The WC races will be broadcast and will include cash prizes similar to our other WC Series.

As I said, things will be a little rushed this year, but we plan to start a short qualifying series in the coming weeks followed by the actual WC Series for all three which again might be compressed in the first year. The qualifying series will be open to everyone, and the WC Series will just be the top xyz drivers similar to our other black license stripe WC Series. We expect the qualifying process will evolve as we move along into future years. The dirt WC races will use our Heat Racing functionality. The plan is the qualifying series will use the Heat Racing Functionality as well, but multiple things are still being discussed.

We will have more details shortly, hopefully, next week for each series. We will likely create some new forums next week. If interested, start practicing and we hope you have fun!

We also are very excited about our BlancPain Endurance WC Series, our iRacing Grand Prix World Championship Series, and our NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series. The qualifying Pro Series for these three series is winding down, and the fields are being set for the 2018 World Championships. Congratulations to all who earned their WC license and good luck! We also are starting a new qualifying format for NASCAR which includes a Road to Pro Series which is an open series running every other Tuesday night (starting in mid-February) rotating opposite the NASCAR PEAK WC Series Tuesday night races. You can read about all these series of documents posted in the reference section of our website. We have been very busy behind the scenes trying to improve these three series as well and the visibility going forward.

Of course, most of us have fun outside these WC series in any number of the thousands of races that go off each week on iRacing. Good luck and good racing to all!
